If there are no jobs between the lines above, then it must be a quiet period – the list is updated 3x a day, usually with dozens of homeworking proof reading jobs.
You’re paid as soon as you’ve completed the work – and most work needs doing in the next few days or couple of weeks, so it’s a great way of making quite fast cash homeworking.
Freelance Proofreading Jobs
Getting paid to read makes it sound lovely doesn’t it. The fact is, you can. The job of proofreading is important before something goes to print. If it’s a book that’s being published, or a newspaper, or a brochure, once those printing presses are rolling it can cost thousands to do a reprint.
Additionally, websites need proofreading too – and there are thousands of these being created every day, some are fresh, some have been translated from one language to another. Some proofreading jobs are quite straight forward, where you’re literally just proof-reading something written down. Others are a little more taxing if you’re proof-reading material that’s been translated from another language, the proofing stage might require a rewrite of a sentence or more to get it right.
I know somebody who had their domain bought from them for $200,000 simply because a book had the domain name printed in it and nobody had checked if it existed, or who owned it – by the time they did check and didn’t like what they saw, they had two options: [1] Buy the domain for the price of the reprinting [2] Reprint the book at a cost of $200,000 and reschedule the whole book launch and promotions. That was a nice windfall for my friend, but I bet somebody’s ass got kicked at the book publishers. A simple typo can cost thousands.
Below are some proofreading jobs that need doing. These are actual freelance proofreading jobs that somebody needs doing this week – many will lead to regular work. With the following list, be aware that the person doing the advertising gets to choose the categories the job falls into … and some are a bit over-enthusiastic, so it may be that jobs below aren’t always pure proofreading jobs. Quite often the hirer will bundle up the jobs of writing and proofreading.
